FCC Self-Sealing TPE: Solution for Medical and Pharmaceutical Devices

With expertise of more than 30 years in thermoplastic elastomers, FCC has just expanded its portfolio of TPE solutions: launch of a new product with self-sealing characteristic.

Inspired by the company's new technology, FCC's Self-Sealing TPE has the main function of automatically sealing punctures, caused by the use of a needle and tube to introduce or withdraw liquid from a container.

‍

Main Applications of Self-Sealing TPE

Designed for a wide variety of applications, this TPE should gain prominence, especially in the medical devices and pharmaceutical segments, precisely because of its automatic sealing capacity, so important in these applications. Bungs for fractionation of medicines, plugs of serum bags and hospital infusion systems, among other products may use FCC's self-sealing TPE.

‍

Characteristics of self-sealing TPE

With excellent functional performance, this self-sealing thermoplastic elastomer is free of heavy metals, phthalates, latex, and is sterilizable. In addition to its self-sealing characteristic, it also has excellent elasticity and flexibility, is easily colored, allowing manufacturers freedom of design. FCC Self-Sealing TPE is 100% recyclable and promotes the extension of the product's useful life.

Due to the rigorous selection of its raw materials, this TPE complies with the standards of the medical/hospital market, such as the ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity standard.
